Fundamentals of Sonography Technique

March 28, 2011 Posted by admin

Sonography procedure has gained popularity in the recent years and is employed in most of the medical diagnostic procedures for taking the images of the internal body parts. In the case of ultrasonography or sonography the sonographer will make use of the ultrasound waves which is of high frequency to create the images of the internal organs or blood flow or the bodily tissues. The procedure that is followed to create the images is called as the ultrasound scan or the sonogram and they are generally trained professional who perform the procedures and are called as sonographers.

Working Procedure Involved in Sonography:

Transducers are the instruments that are used by the sonographers to convert the electrical current into the sound waves. Sound waves will in turn bounce the tissues and organs in human body and will reflect back to transducer.  Transducer will send the reflected wave back to the computer that transforms electrical signals to the images or patterns. The image will be displayed on the monitor and it is recorded on the stores or films as the digital computer image. X-ray is not used in the sonography process and is ultimately painless and safe.

Sonography during Pregnancy Period:

During the pregnancy period sonography technique is often used. The ultrasound technology is used to indicate the number, location, age, heartbeat and gender of the baby and the physicians make use of the technology top diagnose the potential health issues or the birth defects in the fetus.

Sonography Technology for Other Medical Purpose:

Nowadays sonography is used in almost all health related problems that occur in medical field. Vascular disease that leads to stroke, heart attack or heart disease can be detected and treated by using the sonograms. Sonography procedure is used in brain, eye evaluation and the physicians use it for detecting the liver disease or gallstones.
